Organized in 1793, the Tates Creek Baptist Association today consists of 45 Southern Baptist churches serving the heart of Kentucky and the world. Our member congregations are located predominantly in Madison County, Kentucky, as well as in portions of nearby Garrard and Estill Counties.
Director of Missions: Dr. Danny Davis
Danny became our Director of Missions in October 2015, after 30 years as a pastor of churches in Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. He holds a bachelor’s degree from The University of the Cumberlands, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from Columbia International University. He and his wife Sandy, both natives of Williamsburg, Kentucky, have led or participated in mission trips to Europe, Asia, Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean. Their only son and his wife live in Washington DC along with their only grandchild.
Secretary: Marie Wing
Originally from New York state, Marie is a former Mission Service Corp (MSC) Missionary. She previously managed the Tates Creek and Rockcastle Baptist Associations Food Warehouse in Berea and formerly served as the TCBA’s Clerk. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and participated in several mission trips to Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. A former Pastor’s wife, Marie has three grown children, four grandchildren, twin great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
TCBA LEADERSHIP TEAM
Moderator: Dr. Jerry Huffman
Jerry has served as Senior Pastor of Tates Creek Baptist Church since 2005. He is a graduate of The University of the Cumberlands, attended Baylor University, completed a Master of Divinity degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary. He has pastored churches in Texas and Kentucky. A native Kentuckian, Jerry is married to his sweetheart, Carol. They are blessed with five children and seven grandchildren.
Church Development & Evangelism Team Leader: Kenny Davis
Kenny has been the Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church since 2000. The Madison County native previously served as Minister of Education and Evangelism at Silver Creek Baptist Church. Kenny is a board member for Heritage Ministries of Kentucky as well as Kentucky Men of Integrity. He served on short term missions teams to Africa five times and to Panama four times. He also traveled to the Gulf Coast 13 times following Hurricane Katrina to do relief and rebuilding work. He and his wife Lisa have two children and four grandchildren.
Leadership Development Team Leader: Dr. Deron Cobb
Deron is the Senior Pastor of Red House Baptist Church. After years of ministry in Mississippi, Georgia, and Tennessee, Deron returned to Central Kentucky, where his family roots run deep. He received his Master of Divinity from Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctorate from Covington Theological Seminary. His wife Bonita is an Educational Therapist and a pastor’s daughter. The Cobbs have a daughter, Joanna, and two sons, Joshua and Joseph.
Missions Growth Team Leader: Greg Lakes
Greg is Pastor of Pilot Knob Baptist Church, where he has served since 2010. Formerly an IMB Missionary to South Asia, Greg also serves as the International Partnership Director for our association. He previously pastored Valley Baptist Church in Rockcastle Baptist Association. Currently a student at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Greg is presently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. He and his wife Dellena are the parents of three children—Logan, Alyssa and Eli.
Woman’s Missionary Union Director: Sandi McDowell
Sandi McDowell has been active in missions since she was a member of the Sunbeams as a child. From there she was involved in GA’s, Acteens, and Baptist Women, both as a member and later as a leader. Sandi has led or participated in mission trips to Guatemala, Panama, Mexico, Russia and Hungary. Presently, she is engaged in discovering and ministering to the internationals that God is bringing to our area. Sandi and her husband Richard are members of First Baptist Richmond where they enjoy singing in the choir and participating in its various ministries. They have two grown, married children and four grandchildren.
